On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, Yazidis will celebrate their main holiday - "Charshama Sare Sale or Charshama Sare Nisane". This holiday marks the beginning of the new year according to the Yazidi calendar. The start date of the new year is always after April 13, this year the holiday falls on Wednesday April 15.

According to the Yazidi calendar, the year is now 6770.

During this holiday in the Yazidi temple of Lalesh, priests read prayers and sacred hymns, and in the evening light oil lamps. Yazidis also paint eggs during this holiday, which is interpreted as a symbol of the birth of life and the round earth. In addition to the circular shape of the egg, the yolk represents the sun, because the sun for Yazidis symbolizes the source of energy and the highest truth, the sun is sacred, since it is considered an emanation (manifestation) God on earth. And the painting of eggs is connected with the coloring of the sacred peacock among the Yazidis, and with the different colors of the globe when creating the earth. These traditions have existed for many thousands of years, so the knowledge about the shape of the earth was known even then.

According to Yazidi sacred texts, this is the holiday of Tausi Malek, which, by the will of God, dresses the earth and gives it life.

Sharfadin (Yazidism is a scientific term) is one of the oldest religions in the world revered only by the Yazidi people, as evidenced by the calendar and religious hymns and text. Consequently, the Yazidi calendar is older than the Jewish, Muslim, lunar, and Christian calendars.

E'yda Sersalê is a very ancient holiday that dates back to the ancient cults of Mesopotamia and elements of which are still preserved among many peoples. This holiday is also known under different names.
