"Everyone has the right to life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness...", the declaration of the United States of America.

The Cultural Center of the Yezidis of the Caucasus, with the support of the website yazidis.info conducted a social survey of the Yezidi community on the topic of education and early marriages among Yezidi youth.
These issues are relevant for our community, since we are an organization that is "not indifferent" to the Yezidi problems, we decided to undertake research on these problems, and in order to investigate anything, you need to know the opinion of representatives of the community itself.
Since we live in the digital age, we (the Cultural Center of the Yezidis of the Caucasus) conducted a significant survey using Google docs., and word of mouth.

Why have we put these issues on the agenda for the Yezidi community?

Since there are few girls among the Yezidi community who receive secondary and higher education, the picture of education and the "image" of the nation are distorted, which leads to bad stereotypes towards our community.
We should also note here that the problem of early marriages remains not an unimportant problem of the Yezidi community. Despite the fact that this problem is criminally punishable, the facts of early marriages are still relevant and do not come to naught. Yezidis, as a community, need to understand and accept the fact that it is not permissible to cover up and support agitators of early marriages.
Yazidis from different countries (Georgia, Armenia, Russia and European countries) joined our study. Our survey was anonymous, the respondents answered several questions concerning the aforementioned problems of the Yezidi community.

As a result of the study:

- 100% of the survey participants believe that Yazidi youth should receive higher education.

- 98.5% of them believe that Yazidi girls should also receive secondary and higher education.

- 97% of respondents are against early marriages among Yazidi youth (13-16 years old).

- And 76.9% consider the tradition of matchmaking (hazgini) to be relevant.

Based on the results of the study, it is possible to see positive shifts of the Yezidi community towards social and legal changes. But despite this, we, as a community, have a lot to grow, we need to continue working in the field of human rights, modernize the conservatism of our community to modern realities, which will further improve our "image" and make us a more progressive nation.
The Yazidi Cultural Center of the Caucasus will continue to work in the field of human rights and send such studies to the relevant international bodies.
