After a drop in tourism revenues in Georgia during the third quarter, revenues began to grow in the fourth quarter.

Georgia's revenue from tourism in December of this year amounted to 217.2 million dollars, which is 5.4% more than last year, according to the materials of the National Bank of Georgia.

Georgia had hoped for a more significant increase in tourism revenues this year, but in response to the hype surrounding the arrival of state Duma Deputy Sergei Gavrilov to Georgia and the subsequent wave of protest with anti-Russian slogans, Russia banned direct flights to Georgia from July 8. As a result, there is a decrease in the number of visitors from Russia.

At the beginning of this year, tourism revenue grew by 5%. However, after the sanctions imposed by Russia, there was a decline in revenues-in July by 8.6%, in August-by 6.8%, in September-4.9%.

According to the national Bank of Georgia, the growth of tourism revenues resumed in October and exceeded by 5.2% revenues compared to last year, and in November-by 5.6%.

According to the National tourism administration of Georgia, in 2019, revenue from international travelers in Georgia amounted to $ 3.3 billion, which is $ 47 million or 1.4% more than in 2018.

In 2019, international travelers ' visits reached a new historical level – 9.3 million (an increase of 7.1%).

During the 12 months of 2019, the number of visitors from Russia to Georgia amounted to more than 1.46 million people, which is 4.7% more than last year.
