Yazidi holiday (Aida Yazid) is a holiday of creation, which is celebrated by Yazidis in the winter, in the second half of December, on the third Friday of the month. According to Yazidi mythology, it was on the first day of the week that the Earth was created. The doctrine of yazidism says that God created with the help of seven angels. At the head of these angels, after God, are Malak Tawus and the Sun. These three powers, with the help of angels, began the creation of the world on the Sabbath and completed it on Sunday. On Monday, the Earth received water and air. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Yazidis hold a fast in honor of God who created the World. On fasting days, eat only in the evening (before sunset) "fitar" and at night (before dawn)"paşîv". Fasting should coincide with the location of the moon when it is clearly visible in the sky.
One of the characteristic features of yazidism is the preservation of purity. Therefore, the Yazidis carefully clean their homes before the holiday. Then proceed to the preparation of festive food. Yazidis stock up on products that are not forbidden to them. Nightly meals are served by the whole family. Before sunset, a share of "şîv-paşîv" for the deceased relatives is allocated from the common meal and sent to neighboring houses or impoverished families. According to the Yazidis, after sunset, all roads and gates of the other world are closed, and the food that the souls of the deceased are waiting for there will not be able to reach them. Before sunset, all members of the family wash, pray, sit down together at the table to dinner "fitar", saying the words: "Oh, Great Lord, accept my service!". So the solemn service is held all three days of fasting. On Thursday, after a dinner led by the sheikhs, everyone gathers in those homes where someone has died during the year and expresses condolences to the family, relatives and loved ones of the deceased. On Friday, they visit the houses of sheikhs and feasts, and then go to visit each other. All day long there are folk festivals, sometimes accompanied by music. On this day, quarreled relatives or villagers forgive each other all insults and reconcile.

The festival was attended by representatives of the clergy-sheikhs and feasts, as well as representatives of the laity (mrids).

In the temple, prayer was conducted, qawla was read, after all the guests moved to the Yazidi cultural center where Dmitry Pirbari made a congratulatory speech to the Yazidi people. The guests were told about the significance of this great holiday for the Yazidi people. "Do good and good deeds without self - interest, from the heart and pure heart" - said Dmitry Pirbari at the event.

Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis heartily congratulates all Yazidis on this wonderful holiday! Be healthy and happy friends!
