"Yazidi Congress" establish a prize named Mirza Sloane

On November 29, 2019, a meeting of the Board of the all-Russian public organization "Yazidi Congress" was held. One of his decisions, adopted unanimously, was the announcement of the establishment of the national award named after Mirza Sloyan, which will be awarded for successes and achievements in various areas of public life.

The second decision concerns the preparation for the next annual conference (Congress) of the all-Russian public organization "Yazidi Congress", which will be held in Moscow at the end of December 2019. The exact time and place of the meeting will be announced to the members of the Yazidi Congress.

M. Sloyan died on November 3, 2019 at the age of 73. He was actively engaged in charitable and philanthropic activities. In 2012, he built the first Yazidi temple outside the historical homeland. This event was historic for the Yazidi community of the CIS and the world. During the 2014 genocide, he was one of the first to allocate funds to help the Yazidi refugees of Shangal. In 2014, the Armenian-Yazidi friendship alley was built at Sloyan's expense, where monuments were erected to the Yazidi national hero Jangir Agha, the Armenian commander Andranik, Usub Bey, the Yazidi genocide monument and the monument to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

In 2015, Sloyan decided to build another temple that could accommodate a large Yazidi congregation and meet the spiritual needs of the Diaspora. In September 2015, with the blessing of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Yazidis and in the presence of the late Mir Tahsin beg, the Foundation stone of the future temple was laid. The temple was named "Quba heft merê dîwanê u Tawûsê Melek". At the end of September 2019, the temple opened its doors to the faithful. This temple became the largest Yazidi temple by area.

In 2016, he financed the opening of the first Yazidi TV channel Lalish TV, which broadcasts in the Yazidi language, in parallel, the Russian-language news portal Ézîdînews was launched.
