The black sea region is important for NATO. We have three countries there — Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey. Then we have two key partners — Georgia and Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a meeting of the Alliance's foreign Ministers in Brussels.

He noted that in recent years NATO has expanded its representation in the black sea region.

"In April this year, we agreed on a package to conduct more exercises, increase the exchange of information. The North Atlantic Council recently visited Georgia. We also visited Ukraine, in particular, Odessa. We cooperate with the Georgian coast guard, work with representatives of the Naval Academy of Ukraine. Thus, we are actively working with our partners in the black sea region — Georgia and Ukraine. I call on the allies to provide them with the resources they need, " said Jens Stoltenberg.

At the same time, the NATO Secretary General noted that the Alliance will help and support Georgia on the way to joining the organization.

"We will help and support Georgia on the way to NATO membership. That is why we are helping to modernise defence and security institutions and implement reforms. This is the purpose of NATO's representation in Georgia, " said Jens Stoltenberg.
