In connection with the aggravation of the situation in Northern Syria, the all-Russian public organization "Yazidi Congress" addressed letters to Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chairman of The state Duma Committee on international Affairs Leonid Slutsky and Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Russia Mehmet Samsar.

In a letter to the Turkish Ambassador highlighted that, under international law, for the safety of the civilian population of responsible government, whose armed forces are involved in the conflict, in this case the Turkish armed forces. Without removing responsibility for the safety of the civilian population also from the Kurdish armed groups, it is Turkey that has seized territory in Syria, is obliged to take measures to prevent a repeat of the events in Afrin, when the Yazidi population of the district was forced to leave their homes. Then the reason for the mass flight of the Yazidis was violence and looting by Turkey's allies from a radical group calling itself the "Syrian free army".

In a letter to the Chairman of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs, the Yazidi Congress drew attention to the fact that the Yazidi population belongs to the non-Muslim and non-Arab minority of Syria, which should be taken into account in Russia's policy in the region.

In an address to the Russian defense Minister, the Yazidi Congress drew attention to the fact that Yazidis, who are the least protected ethnic and religious minority from Islamic radicals, live in settlements bordering the patrol zone of the Russian military police. In this regard, the Russian military is asked to bear in mind the vulnerable situation of the Yazidis in Northern Syria when taking priority measures to protect ethnic and religious minorities living there.

In all three letters, the Chairman of the "Yazidi Congress", Professor Samvel Kochoi expressed his willingness to meet for a detailed acquaintance with the situation of the Yazidis in Syria.

Recall that in August, the Chairman of the "Yazidi Congress" Samvel Kochoi and Chairman of the Board of the "Yazidi Congress" Ruslan Javoyan met with the Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad, during which attention was also drawn to the situation of the Yazidis in Northern Syria in connection with the invasion of Turkish troops, and it was proposed to involve the Yazidis in the work of the constitutional Committee on the post-war structure of Syria.
