Yesterday Yezidi human rights activist Mirza Dinnay was awarded the humanitarian award "Aurora". It is reported by Sputnik Armenia.

In his acceptance speech, Denny said that in the history of the Yezidis had been 72 genocide.

"My grandfather fled to Syria during the Armenian Genocide and then to Iraq. Many years have passed, even in Yazidi families do not talk about it. But the largest Yazidi temple is opening in the valley of Holy Ararat, and the genocide of my people — from a human and humanitarian point of view – receives recognition with this award," he stressed.

In turn, the Armenian Prime Minister, who arrived at the ceremony, thanked the laureate on behalf of the Armenian people and the Yazidi community for saving the Yazidis in the middle East. According to him, dinnaya's exploits reminded Him of the stories of missionaries who saved Armenian children during the Genocide.

"Unfortunately, many peoples of the Middle East are going through trials. Stability and peace have not yet prevailed in the region .But you and people like you inspire hope for a stable future, " Nikol Pashinyan said.

With the active participation of Mirza Dinnay hundreds of former captives of ISIS* had the opportunity to undergo medical rehabilitation in Europe. It protects the interests of thousands of Yazidis who suffered during the Shangala genocide. Mirza Denny participated in the drafting of the bill to protect the rights of the survivors of the Yezidis.

The Aurora prize is an international humanitarian award created to pay tribute to contemporary heroes and their exceptional contribution to saving lives in critical situations, as well as promoting the ideas of humanism. The award is presented on behalf of all survivors of the Armenian Genocide and in gratitude to their saviors. In the period from 2015 to 2023 (in memory of the eight-year Armenian Genocide, which lasted from 1915 to 1923), the laureate of the Aurora prize will be awarded an annual grant of $ 100,000.
