The said container ship has already made the first voyage and arrived in the port of Poti. Flights will be operated once a week. This made it possible to transport goods between Europe and Asia using the "Georgian railway".
"Container traffic between the ports of the two countries will contribute to the growth of demand for the Georgian railway corridor and increase its competitiveness. The designated container ship between Georgia and Ukraine will contribute to the growth of railway freight turnover and the development of the corridor, as well as to the increase in the intensity of block trains, " the GZHD said in a statement.
According to the document, in the shortest time and at a favorable tariff , transit cargo from Europe and Asia will be switched to the specified route, which in turn will increase the role of Georgia as a transit country, and will further contribute to the improvement of the record indicator of rail container traffic.
At the same time, countries that do not have a land border will be able to communicate with each other by rail, the report said.
