The mayor's office has not yet decided on the terms of the third stage of the taxi reform.

No age restrictions on taxi cars are being considered at this stage, the city transport Service of Tbilisi city hall told Sputnik Georgia.

The initiator of the taxi reform is Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze. It began in 2018. At the first stage, a year ago, taxi drivers were obliged to take a license and undergo technical inspection. The second stage started exactly a year later - from October 1, 2019, the taxi was divided into two categories - "a" and "B". According to Kaladze, to date, about 7.7 thousand licenses of category A, and about 8.8 thousand licenses of category B.

"As for the year of production of cars, and the next stage, all the changes will be adopted so that it does not become a burden for drivers. And whether or not there will be a third stage, we will discuss it, and we will make a decision only after consultation with the drivers," said Mamuka Mumladze, head of the city transport Service of Tbilisi city hall.

The mayor's office took on the costs of repainting (or covering cars with a special white film) and dry cleaning of salons, but only for those who took a license to carry passengers until October 10, 2018. Later it was decided to expand the program-free of charge could use the services of those drivers who changed the car, took a new license and appealed to the mayor's office from July 1 to August 10, 2019.
