The official visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Georgia has begun.
The German President's plane has already landed at Tbilisi international airport. Steinmeier was greeted at the airport by Minister of foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Georgia with his wife Elke Büdenbender.
Official meeting of the President of Germany will start from tomorrow. The official reception ceremony of the German President will be held at the presidential Palace, where meetings with Salome Zurabishvili will be held both face to face and in an expanded format.
The presidents of Georgia and Germany will make joint statements to the media.
According to the Georgian presidential administration, during the official visit Frank-Walter Steinmeier will meet with Georgian Prime Minister George Gakharia, Parliament speaker Archil Talakvadze, Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II, and the German President will lay a wreath at the Memorial of fallen heroes for the unity of Georgia. The President of the Federal Republic of Germany will meet Georgian businessmen in Tbilisi, visit Kakheti and visit several local wineries. As part of the cultural program of the official visit, Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit the monastery of Alaverdi and the house-Museum of Heraclius II.
