The Kurdistan regional government (KRG) announced on Tuesday a seven-day holiday schedule for Yazidis and Kurds on the occasion of their religious holiday "Jamayi" (Eda Hechiya).

The head of the Yazidi Affairs Department in the Ministry of donations and religion of Kurdistan, Khairi Bozani, told IA BasNews that all Yazidi civil servants will rest from 6 to 13 October.

The week of pilgrimage will start from 6 to 13 October. It is a sacred time when all Yazidis and Kurds make the pilgrimage to Lalish to unite as one people in their most sacred Shrine.

Every year, thousands of Yazidis return to their ancestral land in Kurdistan for a pilgrimage to the sacred Lalish temple.

It is expected that a large number of Yazidis, including representatives of the Diaspora, will take part in religious ceremonies. This seven-day holiday, the longest of the Yazidi holidays, attracts Yazidi Kurds not only from all over Kurdistan, but also pilgrims from Turkey, Syria, Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Europe.
