"The taxi reform does not end on October 1 – there will be the next stages, which will involve the improvement of taxi service, and after a few years, we will be able to say how good the reform was," said Vice - mayor Irakli Khmaladze.
According to Khmaladze, 70% of 26 thousand licensed vehicles underwent technical inspection. The minimum technical standards did not meet 30% of vehicles, which is an impressive figure. Also of these 70% - 24% fell under category A.
Category "a" provides that a taxi must be white in color. Recall that the requirement to paint the car in white earlier caused protests among taxi drivers. However, this category also provides a number of advantages-for example, the ability to" pick up " customers on the street, along with work on calls. Another advantage is the ability to advertise on the car and free issuance of "checkers" taxi. Such taxi drivers on cars with category " B " are allowed to work only with taxi companies and go only on calls.
