Two of them crashed into the towers of the world trade center in New York, the third into the Pentagon building, and the fourth fell into a field in Pennsylvania. As a result, 2977 people were killed, more than six thousand were injured. The tragedy marked the beginning of the so – called American War against terrorism-a war that the United States cannot yet win.
