Tbilisi city hall will Finance the education of students from socially vulnerable families

Tbilisi city hall has started accepting applications of students from socially vulnerable families to Finance the first semester of the current academic year. It is told about it in the message on the website of the city hall.

Under the program, students from socially vulnerable families who are registered in the capital will receive funding. Their rating score in a single database of social security should be at least 70 thousand. Education is financed by public or private universities that have accreditation and authorization.

The city hall funds social security students twice a year, taking into account the academic performance of each student and the educational grant.

In that case, if applicants receive 51-70 points on the Unified national exams, the city hall will Finance 50% of the study, in the case of 71-90 points — 70%.  In the case of 91-100% of the points applicants will receive from the capital authorities one hundred percent funding.

To receive funding the student must submit to the Tbilisi city hall a copy of the identity card, extract from the unified database of socially vulnerable families, a letter from University, stating the annual amount of tuition, Bank details of the University and invoice, cover letter, recommendation from higher education institutions, the academic performance index issued by the University (in addition to first-year students).

As for the students of the first semester, together with other documents, they must submit a certificate of the scores and results obtained in the Unified national exams.

Applications will be accepted until November 30 inclusive. Documentation and application must be submitted personally by the student.

In the framework of the program "Support of socially disadvantaged students" in 2015-2017, the city has funded studies to 6.5 thousands of disadvantaged students. In 2018, the budget increased by 200 thousand gel (about 81 thousand dollars) and amounted to 1.2 million gel.
