Some people really want Ukrainization, Afghanization, a repetition of the Syrian scenario in Georgia, but the authorities will not allow this, and everyone will receive a proper response, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told reporters.

Representatives of Ukraine, including Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov, have repeatedly called on Georgia to open the second front. Recently, Gubaz Sanikidze, a member of the parliamentary faction "United National Movement" – united opposition "Strength in Unity", called for the opening of a "second front" in Georgia.

"Someone really wants Ukrainization, Afghanization, perhaps a repetition of the scenario of Syria. But we will not allow this, we will give everyone a proper answer", Garibashvili told reporters.

According to the Prime Minister, he cannot accept criticism from those who deliberately and purposefully went against the national interests of Georgia and continues to do so with their statements about the opening of a second front.

"Former Minister Vano Merabishvili openly says that if they return to power, they will open a second front. Can anyone imagine what it means to open a second front in the country and what results it will bring and would bring to our people?", Garibashvili said.

In March 2023, one of the most influential politicians of Mikhail Saakashvili's presidency, Vano Merabishvili, said that the former ruling United National Movement party would continue the struggle to change power and bring "pro-Western, pro-Ukrainian power" to Georgia. This, according to Merabishvili, is necessary so that Ukraine is not alone.

As previously stated in the ruling party, as long as the Georgian Dream is in power, it will not allow the opening of a second front - "it is excluded."

Representatives of the Georgian Dream, who came to power following the elections in October 2012, called normalization of relations with the Russian Federation one of the main priorities of foreign policy, but not to the detriment of the principle of territorial integrity of the country.

Georgia lost control over Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region (South Ossetia) after armed conflicts in the early 1990s, and after the August 2008 events, Russia recognized their independence.

After the August 2008 war, Russia unilaterally recognized the independence of South Ossetia (Tskhinvali region) and Abkhazia. In response, Tbilisi severed diplomatic relations with Moscow and declared the conflict zones occupied territories at the legislative level.

Following Russia, several other states recognized the independence of South Ossetia (Tskhinvali region) and Abkhazia.
