Iraqi Yazidi Gulistan Crowe is a contender for the title of Miss Middle East and North Africa, Iraq is scheduled to host the pageant on October 25, 2023.
Gulistan is not only the owner of beautiful looks, she is also very intelligent and hardworking. Crowe has a bachelor's degree in nursing and is currently working as a nurse and helping displaced Yazidi refugees and migrants, the poor and orphaned children. Crowe competed for Miss Iraq 2021-2022, representing her province of Dahuk, and placed second in the Miss Iraq pageant out of 100 contestants. She competed against about 200 young women from the Middle East and North Africa for the title.
She lives in the Hanki neighborhood of Dahuk city, where there is a camp for displaced Yazidis who fled there after the genocide perpetrated by ISIS against Yazidi minority. Gulistan stresses that the presence of a large number of displaced people in her town "motivated her to work to help them," and she plans to expand the amount of help if she receives the title, which would allow her to receive more assistance from the Iraqi government and related organizations.
