Remains of the Palace from around V-IV centuries BC were found in the Alazani valley - national Museum distributes photos

International archaeological expedition of the National Museum of Georgia have completed work in the Alazani valley, in the village of Jugaani of Sighnaghi municipality. Archaeological excavations revealed the remains of the Palace around the V-IV centuries BC.

The National Museum also notes that the recently discovered remains of the Palace are about forty centimeters from the surface of the earth and were badly damaged by plowing. The decor was obviously damaged by the fire and remains only at the bottom of some bases.

The head of the Georgian-German international archeological expedition on the German side Dr. Kai Canut (from the Munich University. Ludwig Maximilian) from Germany, and the Georgian side — scientific consultant of the national Museum of Georgia Yulon Gagoshidze. A group of German geophysicists led by Jorg Fassbinder participated in the expedition; students of Tbilisi state University participated in archaeological works.
