President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili congratulated ethnic Azerbaijanis on Novruz Bayrami traditional holiday in Gardabani town of Kvemo Kartli region and took part in festive activities together with representatives of the local authorities.

President addressed the gathered locals at Gardabani town center and underlined that preservation of traditions was as important as the introduction of innovations in the country. She said that she could not speak in Russian since it was not the language that united.

“The main value of our identity is tolerance.  . . . We cannot live without this value, neither build the statehood, cannot develop nor walk forward. I feel proud and everywhere I go, I say that Georgia is the place where peoples of different ethnicity and religion can live together without having a conflict or discord,” Zurabishvili said.

President said that regardless of political stance, religion or ethnic origin, every person had to acknowledge that every Georgian citizen had common future to care about. “We should continue coexistence, strengthen Georgia and become an exemplary country to astonish the whole world,” President said.
