The participation of Yezidi communities from all countries will reunite and strengthen the Yezidi people September 29, 2019 will be a great event for all Yezidis. In Armenia, the world's largest Yezidi temple will be opened in the Yezidi village of Aknalich. This day should be significant for the Yezidis of the world, such events in the history of the Yezidi people have not yet been.

The temple is named after the seven archangels ( Quba Tawusi Melek u Heft meren diwane. ). It will become the largest temple in the CIS countries and the spiritual center of Yazidis of Armenia, and not only for them. Yazidis of Armenia expect the arrival of thousands of guests from Yazidis communities of other countries, especially from neighboring Georgia and Russia.

The opening of the new temple should become a symbol of unity of the Yazidis of the world, the people who through millennia, through persecution and genocide carried their faith and kept it clean.

For a long time Yezidis of the South Caucasus and the post-Soviet space in General were deprived of their temples. The main temple and Shrine of the Yazidis Lalesh temple in Iraq was inaccessible to generations of Yazidis, both during the Soviet Union and after its collapse. This is due to the political situation in Iraq, which eventually became the hardest test for the Yezidi people.

On September 29, 2012 in the Armavir region of the Republic of Armenia in the village of Aknalich, located in the Ararat valley, 35 km from Yerevan, the Yazidi temple "Ziarat"was inaugurated. It was the first temple built outside the native land of the Yazidis, designed to meet the spiritual needs of the Yazidis of Armenia.

From the very beginning Yazidis reached for the new temple. But this temple is relatively small in size. On holidays, he simply can not simultaneously take a lot of parishioners and pilgrims. Therefore, almost immediately it was realized the need to build a new, more spacious temple.

This need became all the more obvious after the main Shrine of the Yazidis Lalesh, and its surroundings became the epicenter of the tragedy of the Yazidis of Iraq. In 2014, the terrorist organization ISIS, which seized the sacred places of the Yazidis, organized genocide against the Yazidis and other religious minorities.

Today, despite the victories, the situation in Iraq is far from normalizing, which makes it difficult for Yazidis to travel to this country. Not to mention the fact that the genocide of Yazidis by ISIS has led to the fact that a significant part of the Yazidis people are now forced to live in Europe, where they are in today's conditions to get to Armenia is often much easier than in Iraq.

The tragedy of the Yazidis of Iraq contributed to the unity of the Yazidis living in Armenia, Russia, Georgia and other post-Soviet countries. The need to have a full spiritual center, almost as important as Lalesh, became apparent. In 2015, Yazidi philanthropist Mirza Sloyan decided to build another temple in Armenia, also in the village of Aknalich, which could take a large Yazidi flock.

Already in September 2015, with the blessing of The Supreme Spiritual Council of the Yazidis and in the presence of the late World of Tahsin-beg, the first stone was laid in the Foundation of the future temple.

Laborious and difficult work on the construction of the temple lasted almost 4 years. The scale of construction was such that in its place was deployed a whole production of marble and granite. Thousands of tons of marble were brought from Iran to Armenia and each stone was adjusted to the size.

Today, in the Yezidi village of Aknalich, located on the one hand at the foot of the Aragats mountain, which became native to the Yezids, and on the other hand in view of Ararat, the construction of the largest temple of the Yezids has already come to an end. The main construction works have already been completed. The temple rises above the village and is visible far beyond.

The Central dome of the temple has a height of 30 meters from the floor to the top of the crowning spire with the sun. It is the highest dome among the Yezidi temples. It is surrounded by six small domes of the same size.

Impressive and decoration of the temple and its interior. The area of the prayer hall will be 200 square meters. The facade is made of white Iranian marble with carving elements. The entrance to the temple is crowned with four columns. The interior is made of red granite, the perimeter columns are located in the center of the dome rises a huge chandelier in the form of the sun. At the moment, landscape works are being carried out around the temple and everything is ready for its Grand opening.

There is no doubt that this temple will become a Shrine for Yazidis around the world. Therefore, it is not so much the scale of the temple as its sacred significance for the spiritual unity of the Yazidis that is important.
