The international organization for migration (IOM) has announced the arrival of the first group of Yezidi refugees in Berlin.  A family of eight Yazidis, accompanied by IOM staff, flew from Erbil and arrived in Berlin, where they were met by representatives of specialized services. This is stated in the statement published on the website of the organization.

"We are grateful that Brandenburg has stepped up its efforts to support vulnerable Yazidis, as they are leaving a terrible ordeal and will be able to return to normal life," said Monica Gorachi ,head of the IOM mission in Germany.

In 2016, the Parliament of Brandenburg decided to accept Yazidi women and children who were victims of the Islamic state(is) terrorists, but the process of resettlement of refugees lasted for several years.

As part of the resettlement program, all refugees who will be accepted will receive medical care and will undergo a special rehabilitation program.

Previously, such programs were implemented in the Federal States of Germany Baden-Württember, where one of such programs in 2015 emigrated from Iraq Yazidi human rights activist, Nobel peace prize winner Nadia Murad.

Germany has the largest Yazidi Diaspora, estimated at over 200,000 people, most of whom are from Iraq and Turkey.
