Yazidis first appeared in the annals of Russian history in the period of the Russian Empire, when it joined the Transcaucasia. After the establishment of Soviet power in Transcaucasia, the Yazidis became one of the numerous peoples of the Soviet Union. They became actively involved in the establishment of a new government, the development of the country and its economic power. Under the Soviet regime for 70 years of creative work, Yazidis gave their "Homeland" a lot of valuable personnel who worked together with representatives of other peoples of the USSR in various sectors of the economy. These were workers and workers of the village, teachers and doctors, engineers and chemists, scientists, government and political figures. During World War II, Yazidis, like other peoples of the Soviet Union, defended their Homeland. Many never returned from the war, forever remaining on the battlefields. Most of the Yazidis who returned home were awarded medals and orders for participation in hostilities during the great Patriotic war, including the highest state awards.

A small number of Yazidis lived in the RSFSR mainly in large cities and regional centers. The process of moving Yazidis from Transcaucasia to Russia began in the 60s, when young people went to familiar regions, where, as a rule, either served or studied and continued to live there with their families. After the collapse of the Soviet Union began another, the fourth painful stage of emigration of Yazidis, now from Armenia and Georgia to Russia. The unfavorable economic situation in the early 90-ies of the last century forced Yazidis to leave their homes and migrate to different regions of Russia in search of work. Currently, there are few regions in Russia where Yazidis do not live. In many constituent entities of the Russian Federation, Yazidi communities have been opened, which have acquired the legal status established by law. According to the 2010 census, about 40,000 Yezidis, who have Russian citizenship, live in Russia. On September 28, 2016, the all-Russian public organization "Yazidi Congress" was established in Russia. For the first time in Russia, a similar Yazidi organization was created. The "Yazidi Congress" is attended by people of different ages and professions, everyone who cares about the fate of their own people. Chairman of the organization is academician, Professor, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Honored worker of higher school of Russia, Samvel of Kochoy.

In Russia, there is also a Yazidi TV channel Lalesh TV and news portal ezidinews.ru, covering the events of the Yazidis around the world. The information portal not only informs Yazidis, but also works to convey to the Russian public reliable information about the history, culture and traditions of Yazidis.

The Yazidi Congress and the Yazidi media are a broad platform for the implementation of various projects aimed at the protection, study and development of the history and culture of the national minority. I would also like to note that the Yezidis leave their mark in different areas from culture to politics and sports in the Russian Federation, as well as around the world. For example; Utoev Shamil, who for many years works in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. He has higher Education: in 1974 graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He speaks Arabic and French. He has the diplomatic rank of the adviser of the 1st class assigned in December, 2008. In the diplomatic service - since 1994. He has extensive experience in the Central office of the Ministry and abroad. From 2002 to 2007 - adviser to the Russian Embassy in Algeria. In 2008-2009-adviser, senior adviser of the Consular Department. From 2009 to 2011 - senior Advisor to the Russian Embassy in Egypt. Since 2012 Utoev is a general consul in Aden, Yemen. At the same time, the diplomat always emphasizes that he is Yazid and proud of it.

Also, a noteworthy person among the Yazidis is Zara Mgoyan. We introduce a little background of her. She was born on July 26, 1983 in Leningrad (RSFSR), in the family of Yazidis from Leninakan (Armenian SSR). Her father is Pasha Mgoyan, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences working in the field of engineering. The mother, Nadi Mgoyan, a housewife. Zara also has an older sister Liana and a younger brother, Roman. In 2006, she became a finalist of the TV show "star Factory-6" on channel One, and in 2009 reached the final of the project "Two stars", where her Duo with Dmitry Pevtsov took 2nd place. In 2010 she took part in the ice show "Ice and flame" (channel One) together with Olympic champion skater, Anton Sikharulidze. In March 2011 she took part in the project, “Star Factory Return”. Since the beginning of 2015, he has been a permanent member of the jury of the all-Russian television contest of song performers "New star", held on the TV channel "Star" with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The winner of a number of national music awards "Golden gramophone" and diplomas of the Russian television festival "Song of the Year".

Wherever Yazidis are they can adapt to the society, the people and achieve success in different growths while not forgetting about their roots.
