Twelve years ago, on August 14, 2007, the Yazidis once again fell victim to Islamic terrorists. On that day, al-Qaida terrorists committed a terrorist act that claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent Yazidi children, women and men. Four trucks filled with explosives under the guise of a humanitarian convoy penetrated into the Yazidi villages of Shiba Sheikh Khidir and tel Azar(Arab.Catania). After entering Yazidi villages, suicide bombers set off a bomb weighing hundreds of kilograms, which after the explosion left only scorched earth and ruins.

According to estimates by the Iraqi red cross, the explosion killed 796 Yazidis, and about 1562 people were injured varying degrees of severity. Later the death toll exceeded 1000 people. Both villages were virtually wiped out and hundreds of people were left without a roof over their heads.

The commander of the Yazidi militia Haidar Shasho in an interview with Lalish TV, Recalling the previous terrorist attack events, called the actions of Erbil and Baghdad another betrayal.

"In 2005, the Yazidis asked the us military and the government in Baghdad to create the Yazidis security forces, but this was denied to us. We also appealed to the government of Iraqi Kurdistan (KDP), but they refused us. More than 5,000 young Yazidis were ready to stand under the gun to protect their people. All such proposals were answered: Yazidis are our people, we are not going to alienate them and will protect them. Already in 2007, two trucks filled with explosives entered Yazidi villages, killing hundreds of Yazidis. At this time, Yazidi villages were also guarded by Peshmerga. According to eyewitnesses, the Peshmerga left the checkpoints, and the machines are entered freely in the village. Then, too, a betrayal was committed," Shasho said.

Already in August 2014, Shiba Sheikh Khdir and tel Azer were attacked by terrorists of the Islamic state, which killed dozens of residents of these villages.
