After nine years of displacement, residents of the Yazidi village of Kocho still do not have their homes
After ISIS terrorists attacked the Yazidi village Kocho in 2014, Kocho residents decided not to return to their village, which is full of sad memories, they are still waiting for organisations and the government to start building a new area for Yazidi survivors who are temporarily living in neighbouring villages and IDP camps.
The US Agency for International Development allocated $5 million to build new village Kocho after ISIS destroyed the entire village, killing almost the entire male population and kidnapping women and children.
IN spokesman Salah Hassan said, "A new village will be built for the people from Kocho at their request, and a plot of land has been allocated, indicating that the number of families in this village will reach 200 families."
According to the Department of Immigration in Dohuk province, the new Kocho village will be 2km away from the old one. The old Kocho will be turned into a museum site for future generations of Yazidis to remember what happened.
Sinjar district accounts for the lion's share of the damage caused by ISIS, and of Sinjar district, Kocho village suffered the most from ISIS attacks.
