The Australian Consulate in Iraq resumed work on an immigration program for ISIS victims who were ethnically cleansed, killed and persecuted by ISIS in 2014 in the Sinjar region of northeastern Iraq.

Insecurity, lack of legal rights and freedoms, discrimination by the authorities, religious persecution, and the violation of all treaties with the inhabitants of the region are the main reasons for the emigration of Yazidi population from the country.

Most Yazidis look forward to immigration as the only solution for survival, to get rid of persecution and neglect, and to enjoy their freedom and rights.

So far, 20 Yazidi families have already formally immigrated to Australia and about 50 more families, most of them from the Sinjar region, are preparing to leave in the next few weeks. Among Yazidi immigrants are elderly people and children, but this is not the first time this group of Yazidis has migrated as a result of government negligence.

The immigration program includes a step-by-step system from courses and workshops to paperwork and departure.
