The tourism market of Georgia is actively promoting its own direction in the countries of the former Soviet Union and the former socialist camp.

Armenia and Azerbaijan were able to reorient about 30% of the tourist flow from Russia, which was intended for the Georgian direction, General Director of the tour operator "muzenidis travel" Alexander tsandekidi Told RIA News.

In response to the hype surrounding the arrival in Georgia of state Duma Deputy Sergei Gavrilov and the subsequent wave of protest with anti-Russian slogans, Russia banned from July 8 direct flights with Georgia. The Georgian authorities believe that the damage from the reduction in the flow of Russian tourists could amount to 750 million dollars.

Tsandekidi reminded that before the termination of air traffic between Russia and Georgia ,muzenidis travel was the largest company in Russia in the Georgian outbound direction.

"Our company had its own office in Georgia, we have similar offices in Armenia and Azerbaijan. We can already say that the potential tourist flow destined for Georgia is being actively redirected to these countries," he said.

"Of course, the replacement is not in full, but at least 30% of the Georgian tourist flow has shifted to Armenia and Azerbaijan. Basically, these are those tourists who planned trips to Georgia for sightseeing purposes, pilgrimage and enogastronomic tours," Tsandekidi explained.
