"I sincerely hope that Georgia, together with other candidate countries, especially Ukraine and Moldova, can join the European Union as soon as possible," said European Union Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski.

According to him, "the European Union is an excellent peace project, which allows the 27 member states of the European Union to live in peace, improve the standard of living and welfare of citizens".

"I sincerely hope that Georgia, together with the other candidate countries, especially Ukraine and Moldova, can join the European Union as soon as possible to ensure peace, stability and prosperity in Georgia. This process is ongoing and we will support it in every way we can. But of course, the choice is up to Georgians. The European Union has never demanded the opening of a so-called second front is simply absurd. We are fully aware of Georgia's very difficult geopolitical situation, we know Georgia's tragic history, including several wars, the last one being in 2008. We understand that 20 percent of Georgia's territory is not under the control of the Georgian government. Having said that, we, as the European Union, have clearly chosen a side and stand firmly on the side of Ukraine together with like-minded countries, and Georgia is one of them. We hope that Ukraine will win as soon as possible, which will lead to peace not only in Ukraine but also in the whole region", said Pawel Herczynski.
