The World Food Program stops the delivery of humanitarian aid to the camps of Yazidi refugees in Iraqi Kurdistan.

In recent months, Yazidi refugees, hoping for humanitarian aid, were waiting for messages from the World Food Program to appear on their phones, in fact, it came, but the essence of the message was about the cessation of aid, starting from April 2023.

Most of Yazidi refugees received similar texts, and it was a shock for them, as they were waiting for additional help in light of the deteriorating conditions in the Sinjar region and the lack of solutions to the displacement case.

Yazidi activists consider this step by European non-governmental organizations as forcing displaced persons to return to their areas, even if their areas are uninhabitable.

And the director of the department of the CCM of Dohuk province said that assistance to internally displaced persons was stopped due to lack of sufficient funding and the war in Ukraine.

Yazidi activists are calling on the Iraqi government to find another alternative solution to the problem. Explain the situation of Yazidi refugees and displaced persons to European humanitarian organizations so that the assistance is long-term, or prepare the ground for the return of displaced Yazidi families, as happened with 39 families who recently returned to the Sinjar region under the Al-Azda Al-Qua program implemented by the International Organization for Migration.
