The UN Organization for Global Sustainable Development has published an annual ranking of happiness and life satisfaction in the countries of the world. Finland took the first place in the ranking. She has been leading the rating for six years.

Russia was in 70th place, Armenia in 79th, Georgia in 90th, Ukraine in 92nd. Azerbaijan is not on the list.

Denmark, Iceland, Israel and the Netherlands are also among the top five happiest countries. They are followed by Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg and New Zealand. The most disadvantaged among the 137 countries presented in the report were Sierra Leone, Lebanon and Afghanistan.

Both Russia and Ukraine have slightly improved their happiness indicators compared to previous years. Despite the outbreak of war, residents of both countries have increased confidence in themselves and in their government, and in Ukraine noticeably more than in Russia. According to polls in 2022, Ukrainians showed more unity, confidence in a common goal and trust in the authorities than in 2014 after Russia's annexation of Crimea.

Annual reports on the level of happiness are based on data from the sociological service Gallup International, which conducts surveys of residents in more than 130 countries around the world. The calculations in the rating include such criteria as the level of income of the population, the availability of healthcare and social assistance, the presence of corruption, freedom and mutual assistance in society.
