Parliamentary majority and members of the Georgian government at a meeting in Borjomi this weekend discussed the current situation in the country and the action plan for the near future.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Secretary General of the ruling party Kakha Kaladze, Executive Secretary Mamuka Mdinaradze, members of the majority and the Cabinet of Ministers, the party said in a statement.

The meeting took place a week after the crisis over the law “on foreign agents”, the adoption of which was supported by the ruling party, but abandoned this idea amid mass protests.

The project also caused a negative reaction from Western partners. The US State Department called the initiation of the bill a “black day of Georgian democracy”, and EU representatives warned that it was incompatible with the 12 recommendations for obtaining candidate status.

The Georgian service of Radio Liberty notes that several deputies were not present at the meeting in Borjomi.

According to rumors, David Sergeenko, Vladimer Chachibaia, Giorgi Khelashvili, Irakli Kovzanadze and Nino Iobashvili are leaving parliamentary majority and this will be announced in a few days.

The absence of the Minister of Education is also noted, which also raised questions from journalists.

Representatives of the Georgian Dream do not refute or confirm the departure of several deputies from the party, noting only that neither the party nor parliamentary majority “is in serious danger”.
