France receives 151 Yazidi women and children

The third group of Yazidi families are received by the French Ministry of Interior on Wednesday August 7, 2019, the group consist of 151 persons. All women and children are victims of the terrorist organization called Islamic State known as ISIS in 2014, as part of a program to receive 100 refugees and their families from Yazidi community by private aircraft.

Prior to their departure, IOM teams assisted the families with transportation from Dohuk to Erbil, accommodation in Erbil and medical check ups. The teams also organized cultural orientation sessions and are facilitating their travel to France, in coordination with Nadia’s Initiative as well as within support of the European Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Foreign Ministry in Erbil.

In mid-December 2018, France received the first group of the Yazidis, 16 women with their children and the second group was 28 women with their children at the end of May 2019, President Macron has pursued this policy with the support of 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Nadia Murad, who has advocated for Yazidi women .

In France these families will receive protection, security, education, as well as medical and social support from French government.

On October 25, 2018, President Macron has promised Yazidi activist Nadia Murad to receive 100 Yazidi families who were victims of the Yazidi genocide in August 2014. Macron has pursued this policy with the support of 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Nadia Murad, who has advocated for Yazidi women.
