Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze instructed Vice Mayor Irakli Khmaladze to develop a program to solve the problem of old buildings collapsing in the historical districts of the capital. 

"The municipality receives a lot of letters about the fact that local residents are not able to rehabilitate dilapidated residential buildings in historical areas, and they turn to us. Obviously, the municipality will not be able to repair and rehabilitate all such houses, because there are too many of them. Therefore, it is necessary to create a specific program with the involvement of business", Kaladze said. 

In total, according to the mayor's office, there are about 10 thousand buildings of varying degrees of emergency in the capital. Kaladze recalled that solving this problem was one of his election promises. In the residential areas of the capital, according to Kaladze, the mayor's office has already started a program of replacing old houses, but in the historical part of the city a special approach

is needed "Demolition and replacement of dilapidated houses is not considered in historical areas", Kaladze stressed and invited all members of the city government and deputies of “Sakrebulo” to submit their ideas on how to solve the problem.
