Shekh AdI

Lalesh was one of the main objectives of our visit to Iraq. At least, I wanted to see the famous temple complex with an amazing shape of the domes, to communicate with the locals. The truth is, we didn't even know what to do until Walid, the Shehadi dweller, came along to keep order in the temple grounds, to receive guests, including people like us. On that day, visitors interested in the culture of Yazidis in Shehadi was a lot. Walid was so kind that he arranged a tour of the temple itself, for the entrance to which it was necessary to take off your shoes. To our surprise, in Lalesh and on shekh adi all went barefoot, how many without suffering as it seemed, from hot under hot rays of the sun. Only a small group of people stood in the shade under a large visiting tree. Above the entrance of the temple depicts two Crescent moon with stars and the inscription in Arabic that begins with the Muslim formula "Bismillahi-Rahmani-Rahim" "In the name of God the Merciful, the compassionate". Just above the triangular marble portico depicts peacocks as the image of Malak-Tawus. The entrance to the temple is guarded by a black snake. As later explained to us, according to legend, snakes do not cause harm to members of the genus sheikhs snakes, Sheikh mandas. It is strictly forbidden to harm the Yazidis. Stepping over the threshold, we entered the temple. You can not step on the threshold, because during religious ceremonies his lips touch. According to Walid, near the entrance lay the very first door of the temple, ever opened to visitors. The room was dark. After the bright sun, the eyes did not immediately get used to the light of the few lamps. In the hall near the columns were exhibited gifts from visitors. The original column was enveloped by a large, colored layers of fabric with the tied knots. Seven pieces of brightly colored fabric represent the seven angels in the yezidism. Among these colors was not only blue. On the prohibition of the blue color in the yezidism there are different versions. According to our Iraqi friend, Heri Shangali, according to one of them, the Yazidis have long been attacked and the flag of the oppressors was blue. According to another version, the blue color of clear sky, therefore, to dress in blue and contaminate the color is a sin. Apparently, this prohibition is more observed in the temple, as outside its walls we saw children in blue jeans. At the end of the hall on the ledge of the wall was a clay bowl Twice Enzel, which belonged, according to legend, Sheikh AdI. As a sign of respect and reverence and according to religious rites, the Cup is protected and kept clean. Above the tomb of Sheikh ADI rises the highest dome of the temple. The ethnic origin of Sheikh AdI is still controversial. He was born in Lebanon in the Bekaa valley. Many believe that Sheikh Ad I was a Kurd. In another opinion, the reformer of yazidism Sheikh ADI was an Arab. According to Yazidi tradition, a mystic scientist is considered to be the earthly incarnation of God. Next door is the tomb of Sheikh Hassan, brother of Sheikh AdI, and a storage room for olive oil, which was used to ignite the festive and ritual lights. In yezidism is dominated by the cult of the sun, which the Yezidis see a light emanating from God. Evidence of this cult is the ignition during religious holidays oil lamp6. Heri Sangali also told that there are 366 Laleche places of worship or prayer of the Yezidis. On Wednesdays evenings they light a torch in honor of people who have devoted themselves to religion. He also told about the servants Lalesha-cavisa, the head of which is called the Bava Caves. This position is elective, for example, in the case of the death of the previous Chapter. Bawe Chavish religious status provides for a vow of celibacy and dedication to the service of the temple. Every year he and other Ministers hold fast for 40 of the hottest days of summer in Chle Havine and 40 of the coldest days of winter In chle Zivistan. Next to the tomb of Sheikh Hassan is a narrow passage that leads to the source of Kaniya SPI and it is believed that it originates from the Meccan Holy source Zam Zam*. To Kaniya SpI can pass all without exception. Heri Shangali told a curious detail: if a man and a woman go to the source, then after visiting it they will be considered a brother and sister and will not be able to get married. Therefore, the reason the couple together to the source does not go down, so what kind of marital relations will be forbidden. On the slopes around the temple there are many empty houses, where pilgrims and visitors of religious festivals from Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Germany, France, Sweden and other European countries stay. Whether to visit these mainly Yezidi Kurds living in their native lands and in emigration. Especially many visitors come in Lalish on the occasion of the pilgrimage Aida Jamie or Jamie Lalesh when I decided to visit the sanctuary and other places of worship of the Yezidis. This holiday lasts for seven days in September,October.
