Georgian PM discusses cooperation opportunities in Saudi Arabia

The Georgian government described as "close and friendly" relations between Tbilisi and Riyadh following the visit of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to Saudi Arabia.

The Head of the Georgian government discussed the possibilities of cooperation with Prime Minister and Heir to the Throne Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The final press release notes that the parties talked not only about bilateral relations, but also exchanged views on current regional and international events. 

The sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, for which trade directions will be diversified, joint joint investments will be increased and opportunities for integration and capital investments will be used. Priority areas: energy, agriculture, transport, tourism, mining industry.

Georgia and Saudi Arabia confirmed the establishment of a joint business council, which will promote the development of business contacts.

Garibashvili noted the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in ensuring balance and stability in the world oil markets and also welcomed the "Green Initiative of Saudi Arabia".

The meeting participants agreed to continue mutual support and coordination in international forums and organizations, including the IMF and the World Bank.

On Ukraine, the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Saudi Arabia spoke in favor of negotiations.

"On the issue of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis, the parties emphasize the importance of a peaceful resolution of the dispute and the need to reduce the escalation of the situation by all possible means and means, which will contribute to the restoration of security and stability, while reducing the negative consequences of this crisis", the message reads after the meeting.

The Georgian side welcomed the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the war in Yemen and the efforts and initiatives aimed at developing dialogue between the conflicting parties.
