Amy L Beam, an activist and just a great friend of the Yazidi people, who helps the Yazidis of Iraq in every possible way, visited Shangal again. The activist posted photos and videos of her visit, saying that life in the region is slowly but surely recovering.

"Despite the difficult situation in Shangal (Sinjar), life continues and many Yazidis who return to their towns and villages are practically starting to equip their lives from scratch. Food and clothing markets, jewelry stores, workshops, bakeries are opening, where Yazidis traditionally bake lavash, car service stations, young people are slowly starting to settle down. In the central squares, construction work is even underway to lay asphalt and infrastructure, but this integration of the Yazidi population is very slow, eight years have passed and many Yazidi refugees are living in refugee tents and their fate is still undecided".
