Within the framework of NATO Parliamentary Assembly taking place in Madrid, the Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by the head of the defence and security committee Irakli Beraia, held a series of bilateral meetings, the press service of the Georgian Parliament reports.

In particular, members of the Georgian delegation met with representatives of Sweden, Finland, Turkey and Estonia.

"According to the head of the delegation, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Irakli Beraia, given the sharply deteriorating security situation, the partners are very much aware of the importance of Georgia's accession to NATO, which gives grounds for optimism about accelerating the decision to join the alliance for Georgia.

The partners firmly support Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We were assured that they will continue to support Georgia in all formats and at all international platforms as well as in various organizations," Beraya said.

Along with Irakli Beraia, the parliamentary delegation includes First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations Giorgi Khelashvili and Deputy Chairmen of the Committee on Defense and Security Vladimir Chachibaya and Teona Akubardia.
