Georgia PM condemns Belarusian president’s “visit” to Abkhazia

Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili “strongly” condemned Belarusian president, Aleksandr Lukashenko’s “visit” to occupied Abkhazia region. They posted about it on social media.

“I strongly condemn Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to occupied Abkhazia. This is an unacceptable violation of Georgia’s Law on Occupied Territories and of the principles of our bilateral relations and international law”, writes Salome Zurabishvili.

“I strongly condemn Aleksandr Lukashenko’s “visit” to Abkhazia region of Georgia occupied by Russia and meetings with the Russian occupation regime. This step violates Georgian law on occupied territories & contradicts with int’l law as well as bilateral relations between our countries”, writes Garibashvili.

For reference, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited occupied Abkhazia. The so-called President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania met with him at his dacha in Pitsunda.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry demanded additional explanations from the Belarusian side in connection with Alexander Lukashenko's visit to occupied Abkhazia, and the Belarusian Ambassador to Georgia Anatoly Lis was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in protest.
