Georgia and Turkey signed amendments to the Free Trade Agreement - thanks to which Georgia will get new benefits when exporting products to Turkey.

The amendments were signed by Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili and Turkish Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş.

After the signed decision came into force, such commodity items as live cattle, beef, green tea, dried fruits, kiwi, lemon, canned tomatoes and food ingredients are allowed for export from Georgia to Turkey within the quota at zero-tariff.

Simultaneously, it increases Turkish export quotas for honey, apples and wine.

The Georgia-Turkey Free Trade Agreement entered into force on November 1, 2008 and because of the format of the free trade agreements signed for that period, it was only extended to trade in goods.

Since 2016, work has been underway with the Turkish side on amendments to the tariff section of the free trade agreement and the addition of services to the agreement.
