"A delegation, which arrived in Al-Hawl in coordination with the camp administration, met with Iraqi refugees and began registering new ISIS families in preparation for their repatriation to Iraq in the coming days", reported the "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" (SOHR).

According to local Yezidi Internet media, despite the fact that the Yezidi minority living in camps for refugees and displaced persons are against the return of ISIS families to Iraq, the government returns them and moves them close to these camps. Such actions on the part of the Government cause alarm among the local Yezidi population, murders, rapes and kidnappings have become more frequent in the vicinity of Yezidi camps. The state authorities write it off as ordinary criminal offenses and they do not associate them with the displacement of ISIS families. The Yezidi population opposes the resettlement of ISIS families, but all attempts to convey to the government and government officials the dangers of such relocation are not considered by anyone.

Local Yazidi human rights organizations sent letters to international human rights organizations, but received a response that the Iraqi state itself decides the issue of resettlement of its refugees and they have no right to interfere in their decisions.

SOHR reported that the Kurdish authorities in northeastern Syria handed over to the Iraqi government 620 family members of the Islamic State (IS) held in Al-Hawl.

Since the beginning of this year, the Iraqi Government has conducted four operations to repatriate its citizens from this camp.

On June 5, the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) sent a delegation accompanied by the Head of the Iraqi National Security Service to the Al-Hawl camp to assess the situation.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which guards the camp, as well as Iraq and the UN, have repeatedly warned of serious security threats in the camp and called on countries to repatriate their citizens held in it.

Currently, 16404 families (60351 people) live in Al-Hawl, including 8256 Iraqi families (30738 people), 5619 Syrian families (21058 people) and about 2529 foreign families (8,555 people).
