Statistics Georgian economy grew by 10.5% in the first half of the year

The Georgian economy grew by 7.2% in June compared to last year and by 10.5% in the first half of 2022. Such data of a preliminary assessment of economic growth for June 2022 was presented by the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, Gogita Todradze.

According to him, we are talking about the average real growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP).

In June, real growth was observed in the following activities:

Transportation and warehousing,

Electricity, gas and air conditioning

Information and communication

Hotels and restaurants

Mining

The decline was recorded in the manufacturing industry, construction and real estate transactions.

Representative of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia Vakhtang Tsintsadze said that maintaining the trend of double-digit economic growth is especially important in light of the decline in global economic forecasts.

«This, of course, indicates to the stability of the Georgian economy in relation to external shocks», — said Tsintsadze.

Deputy Finance Minister Mikhail Dundua also noted that Georgia has achieved double-digit economic growth in the context of the global crisis. According to him, this indicates "how important is the peace-loving policy pursued by the country".

The World Bank predicts Georgia's economy will grow by 5.5% in 2022 and 2023 and then by 5% in 2024.
