The head of the Refugee Association reports that 60,000 Kurdistan citizens who were not granted asylum in European countries have registered their names to return to the Region. At the same time, Yezidis from this number have nowhere to return.

According to local Yazidi media reports, towns and villages where the Yazidi minority lived are still in ruins, no restoration work has even begun in them and the Yazidi refugee camps are overcrowded.

Bakr Ali, head of the Association of Refugees Returning from Europe to Kurdistan, told «BasNews»:

«Refugees from different provinces of the Kurdistan Region who have not received the right to asylum and are in camps in European countries, Greece and Scandinavia.

From 2011 to 2013, each refugee who returned from Europe to Iraq and Kurdistan was paid US$ 11,000, but now this amount has been reduced to US$ 3,500. Therefore, the only condition for these refugees is to increase the amount to cover the costs of their flights and for this we are negotiating with international organizations and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)».
