The Yezidis said they welcome the decision of the German Parliament to recognize as genocide the massacres committed by the terrorist group ISIS against the Yezidis.

During the performance at a press conference in Lalesh, the representative of the Spiritual Assembly of Yezidis, Karim Sulayman said:

"Eight years a genocide has been committed against us, now some European countries have begun to recognize these mass crimes as genocide, it is especially important that Germany, as an important and strong country, has recognized this fact at the global and European level. We thank Germany, and its decision will have a good impact on the situation of the Yezidis in general and especially the Yezidis living in Germany, because they had to leave their homes because of the genocide."

Earlier, 10 countries of the world and international organizations, such as the UN, the European Parliament, the USA, Belgium, Canada and the Netherlands, recognized the crimes committed by ISIS against the Yezidis as genocide.

The Yazidi Genocide

ISIS terrorists attacked Shangal on August 3, 2014, they killed thousands of innocent Yezidis, they buried them in mass graves and thousands of Yezidis were abducted.

Survivors have made themselves known to the world by sharing the truth about the tragic events to international and non-governmental organizations, about how ISIS fighters executed most of the Yazidi men and how they kidnapped women and girls and sold them in slave markets.

The Government of the Kurdistan Region has made serious efforts to rescue people abducted by ISIS by creating a special department for the search and rescue of Yezidis in Dahuk, as a result of this work, more than half of the abducted were reunited with their families.

The fate of about 3,000 Yezidis is still unknown.
