Head of the Supreme Spiritual Council of Iraq Hazim Tahsin Beg receives the Consul General of the Republic of South Korea at «Lalesh» Temple
After welcoming the arrival of the delegation of the Republic of South Korea, headed by Mr. Choi Kwang-Jin, Hazim Tahsin Beg highly appreciated the position of the Republic of South Korea and thanked for understanding the plight of the Yezidi population in Sinjar for the humanitarian assistance they provided to the Yezidis during the genocide to which the Yezidi people were subjected by the terrorist organization ISIS on August 3, 2014 in Sinjar.
Tahsin Beg explained that the Yazidis are still suffering from the effects of ethnic cleansing and are still in camps for displaced persons. He emphasized the importance of continuing humanitarian aid from South Korea to displaced persons. This republic is making a great contribution to the campaign to restore Sinjar and return the Yazidi refugees.
Hazim Tahsin Beg also urged for places for academically outstanding Yazidi students to study in Korean schools.
For his part, Mr. Choi Kwang-Jin expressed his gratitude and said that he was proud to meet with Hazim Tahsin Beg and get to know closely the situation of the Yezidis in the region.
Mr. Choi Kwang-jin also spoke about the experience of the Republic of South Korea in the field of development and reconstructions. Indicating that Korea is going to pay attention to the aspect of education and culture in Kurdistan while at the same time continuing to maintain the stable security in Sinjar, all these aspects have already been discussed with the federal government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional government.
