The Georgian government is putting up for sale 14 sanatoriums worth 50 million lari (about $ 16 million), located in the famous resort of Tskaltubo during the Soviet period.

The initiative was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili today during a speech at the presentation of the project "New Life of Tskaltubo".

"Our plan is to start the process of restoring Tskaltubo. We promise to do it. All the issues — the water problem, the problem of the master plan — have been resolved, and now we have 14 sanatoriums for sale, the cost of which, according to today's estimate, is 50 million lari," the prime minister said.

The Georgian government expects that 500 million lari (about $166 million) will be invested to restore Tskaltubo.

According to the prime minister, these will be private investments, and in addition the state undertakes to invest tens of millions of lari, "so that Tskaltubo turns into a modern world-class balneological resort."

The Head of Government is confident that the large-scale infrastructure projects being implemented will have a positive impact on the economy of the municipality and the entire region and the well-being of people.
