From Bulgaria to Georgia – a new ferry leaves for the Burgas-Batumi line

The launch of the new ferry "Vilnius" on the line, which transports cargo from Bulgarian Burgas to the Georgian port of Batumi, will take place on July 4.

The new roller-type vessel will join the Druzhba, which began cruising along the route through the Black Sea back in 2014, said Diyan Dimov, director of the Port of Burgas.

Vilnius will operate flights to Batumi and back once a week. The Ukrainian shipping company “Ukrferry“ operates the vessel.

According to Dimov, interest in the direction has grown seriously after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Now Georgia is unloading goods destined for Ukraine and transit destinations. At the same time, businesses are looking for the shortest and most cost-effective routes, explained the director of the Port of Burgas.

The agreement on the launch of a new line of Houses and the Mayor of Batumi Irakli Chikovani signed last week on the sidelines of the International Maritime Forum in Bulgaria.
