Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said that "she is not going to pardon anyone" — this was a response to the posts of oppositional users of social networks calling for pardoning the imprisoned third President Mikhail Saakashvili and the general director of the TV company "Mtavari" Nika Gvaramiya.

"No and never! I will not pardon anyone! Stop speculating!", — Salome Zurabishvili wrote on the social network Facebook.

"I don't believe that Georgia has any other future than the European one. I do not think that we should rush with someone to move forward in this process [of joining the European Union] - neither with Saakashvili, nor with Gvaramiya, nor with Bidzina Ivanishvili. There is no one whose value would be higher than protecting the European future of our children. To do this, I am returning to Georgia and will defend this future there," the president said live on Imedi TV from Brussels.

The president's statement is being vigorously discussed in social networks. Supporters of the ruling party condemn Zurabishvili, the opposition praises him, but demands to "confirm the words with deeds" and pardon Saakashvili and Gvaramiya, who are often called "political prisoners" in the West, for the sake of the process of European integration.

In her statement, the president sharply criticized the ruling team, noting that she came to Brussels after a visit to Italy to support the process of granting Georgia the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union. At the same time, she complained that the ruling party banned her from making visits to France, Poland and Ukraine to support this process.

In addition, Zurabishvili did not like the reaction of the Georgian Dream to the resolution of the European Parliament of June 9, which calls for sanctions against the founder of the billionaire party Bidzina Ivanishvili because of his ties with the Kremlin.

In the same resolution, the European Parliament calls for the transfer of the prisoner Saakashvili for treatment abroad. Also mentioned in a negative context are the verdict of the director general of the opposition TV channel "Mtavari" Nika Gvaramiya and criminal cases against the owners of two other opposition TV channels — "Pirveli" and "Formula".
