This week, the representative of the Yazidis in the Iraqi Parliament expressed his position on the recent events in Sinjar, where there were clashes between the forces of the Iraqi army and Al-Yabsha, which led to mass displacement.
The representative of the Yezidis, Naif Khalaf Sedoi, said at a press conference in Baghdad that not only were the Yezidis subjected to genocide in 2014, but heavy equipment was brought into the Yezidi areas with readiness for large-scale hostilities, which could lead to large losses among the civilian population. Naif Khalaf called for an end to all types of conflicts in settlements where the Yezidi population and displaced persons live. To ensure the protection of the Yezidi minority, it remains to resort to the help of international bodies.
Despite all the outrages of the crimes committed against the Yezidi people, even though in 2014 everyone abandoned the Yezidis, Sinjar began to recover, and life in it returns to normal.
According to Naif Khalaf Sedoi, the Yezidis after ethnic cleansing are not the same as before, so they have nothing to lose after their precious honor and dignity has been violated.
Since the beginning of the history of the Yezidi people, they have become victims of foreign and domestic policies aimed at depriving them of religion, history, culture and traditions, national identity and national geography, as well as attempts to destroy the Yezidis, who are one of the oldest monotheistic religions in the world.
Khalaf added: "We hoped, having survived the most brutal genocide known in the modern era, that we would be protected, and our rights would be preserved in our country, in Iraq, instead of turning our regions into a new arena of armed conflicts to settle scores between the parties. Unfortunately, we clearly see conspiracies and agreements behind the scenes hatched against our Yezidi people and around their affected territories by all sides of the conflict."
Naif Khalaf Sedoi called on all concerned bodies and the central Government to eliminate all types of armed conflicts from the Yezidi areas inhabited by civilians who have returned from refugee camps, otherwise the international community, human rights organizations and the United Nations will have to resort. He made it clear that the Yezidis do not need anyone's care to decide their fate, and that they categorically reject all agreements in whole and in detail that relate to the Yezidi regions and decide the fate of this long-suffering people without his participation.
The representative of the Yezidi minority called for the formation of a unified Yezidi force from the Yezidi people, especially from those who resisted the ISIS terrorists, like other faiths, like Christian brothers, as well as Shabaks, Turkmen, Arabs, and Kurds.
It is necessary to restore the confidence of the Yezidis in the central Government by working diligently to end the case of the displaced Yezidis, preparing the appropriate ground, and providing basic services and compensation for the return of the Yezidi population.
Naif Khalaf Sedoi concluded his statement with the words: "We have information from our sources that there is a non-public agreement between the Iraqi top officials in power, Kurdistan and a third party to end the presence of the Yezidi population in Iraq. Stop and don't make a mistake that could lead to another war."
