Alin Khalaf is an 11-year-old Yezidi woman who ran a cartoon channel, for which she received a "silver shield" from the YouTube platform, after the number of her subscribers reached one hundred thousand. The girl is originally from Sinjar, but currently lives in the Jimashko displaced person’s camp.

YouTube offers creators of content displayed on its platform 3 prizes, each of which depends on the number of subscribers on the channel, which are presented in the official YouTube blog, in the following order:

1- The diamond shield that the YouTuber receives when the channel reaches 10 million subscribers.

2- The Golden Shield that the YouTuber receives when the channel reaches one million subscribers.

3- The silver shield that the YouTuber receives when the channel reaches 100,000 subscribers.

Awards for authors are awarded at the discretion of YouTube based on those who comply with the rules and policies. Channels are subject to verification before awards are given, which means that awards are given to creators who keep their accounts in good condition, without receiving warnings of copyright infringement or community principles, and without falsely increasing the number of subscribers, among other criteria. Only when the YouTube administration decides that the channel meets all the conditions that deserve a reward for fulfilling the conditions and achieving the required number of subscribers, only then are notifications about winning the contest sent to the channel owners.
