Representatives of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Yazidis in Iraq Hazem Tahsin Bey and Bawe Sheikh Ali Elias received at the Lalesh Temple the deputy head of the US diplomatic mission in Iraq Gregory D. Logerfo, accompanied by the US Consul General in Erbil Robert Polladino.
Hazem Tahsin Bey touched upon the importance of continuing American support for the Yezidis to ensure justice for human rights violations and genocide suffered by the Yezidi people in Sinjar in August 2014, in memory of the Yezidis centuries of ethnic cleansing against their people.
The Yezidis are still surviving, only now in camps for displaced persons, which means the continuation of the genocide. Yezidis need the help of the world, the problem of Yezidis should continue to circulate in international forums. The residents of the camps have lost their trust and can no longer tolerate living in tents in Iraq and Kurdistan and dare to return to their areas again, even though Sinjar is still ruled by opposing forces, the Yezidis do not want to be fuel for this political and military conflict.
