In those infected with the omicron coronavirus strain, the disease proceeds quite easily and the number of hospitalizations is significantly reduced. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Georgia Zurab Azarashvili.
"The sixth strain of covid, omicron, is characterized by a fairly mild course, and it is very positive to note that we have significantly reduced cases of hospitalization. The problems that may be associated with Omicron and its management are mainly related to remote services, such as call centers, hotlines, online clinics or 112 services.
It is very important to have an adequate number of frames. Over the past week, we have added the necessary number of operators and qualified doctors to our hotline and online clinics. I believe that no call should go unanswered — consultation, home treatment or a case of hospitalization, we adequately manage all these flows.
In this regard, we do not expect any problems or complications. As for the help of the army, I believe that there is no need for the army from this point of view yet," Zurab Azarashvili said.
He also noted that he sees no need to tighten the rules for the use of vaccination certificates – the so-called "green passports".
In addition, the minister said that it is expected to change the rules of isolation and quarantine of those infected with coronavirus. This period has recently been reduced from 12 to 8 days.
"If we look at the examples of different countries, we can once again discuss the revision, because in the United States, for example, five days are mandatory, not eight," Zurab Azarashvili said.
